full term

I am full-term this week. That means I can give birth ANY TIME now. Ok, I am downright nervous and scared. But it’s something that most women will have to go through. After all, the baby cannot keep hiding forever. So to prep myself up, I keep on telling myself that it’s just something I need to get it over and done with. The pain is just temporary but I get something I would treasure forever – the baby of course! It would be really nice if the baby could wait ‘til the first week of February before it decides to say hello to the world. After all, the EDD is early February. But you know how people have been ‘warning’ me about the possibility of my baby being born earlier…because I’m carrying the baby low and all that. Well, it doesn’t matter now. I’m just praying for a smooth and easy delivery. Insya Allah.

Let’s just recap all things pregnancy-related shall we? Because I can’t promise you I’ll have another entry before I give birth. One thing’s for sure, laziness had definitely crept in since Day One! I have been super super super LAZY. Just look at this dusty, abandoned blog. I’m just not interested in blogging at the moment. That is just one example of my laziness. Trust me, I have been beyond lazy in other aspects too.

What I love most about pregnancy is of course, the special treatment that I get from everyone. My husband, my family, my friends and even strangers! Did I tell you about the time Uniqlo first opened in KL? I was in Pavilion when I saw everyone carrying the Uniqlo shopping bag. So I went across the street (where Uniqlo is situated) and saw a longgggggg snake-like line of people waiting to get into the shop. I think it was only the second day of opening and there was a massive sale going on. I thought it was ridiculous that people were willing to queue up under the hot sun just to get into the shop. But then on impulse, I just decided to try my luck and approached the guard/bouncer near the door and asked him whether I could get in without having to queue because obviously I’m pregnant and can’t stand in line for hours. So the guy let me and my husband in just like that. Of course I went straight in without looking back at the crowd. Hehe. So please make full use of the advantages while you’re pregnant. People are just simply nicer to pregnant women. And we very well deserve it too! Because sometimes it is tiring having to stand for even 5 minutes, or try walking with a swollen feet, or feeling like there’s ‘something’ down there when you walk. No wonder people choose to waddle.

Besides the all-round special treatment and care, what I love most about pregnancy is of course, the essence of pregnancy itself – having a baby in my tummy. I don’t feel uncomfortable at all having this little creature moving, kicking, Mexican-waving inside of me. I love it and I know I’m going to miss it! It’s very reassuring. It’s like, you have a little friend of your own and you can talk to each other and laugh at one another’s antics. Ok, I’m not sure about the baby but I know I have laughed countless times at her actions. The way she moves is just so funny sometimes. And when I’m sad, I turn to her for comfort. No I’m not exposing her to the downside of the real world so soon but I think she would know when her mother’s sad, without me even having to tell her because after all, we are ‘one’, for now. I love it when she hardens to one side of the tummy (I don’t know if it’s Braxton Hicks or not, it sure isn’t painful) and I can see the curve of her back. Such precious moments.

The little bits of discomfort came about a month after I’ve entered my third trimester. But even then, I would still call my pregnancy an easy one. I just feel lucky, thankful and grateful, it’s so hard to complaint about the little things. I developed an allergy on my hands for a couple of weeks. It was really itchy. My gynae gave me some meds to take and the allergy went away. Other than that, I have a swollen nose, face and feet. I get tired easily. Most of the time, I’m out of breath. I have to take long, concentrated breaths to ease the pain in my chest. I don’t feel like talking that much because it takes up so much energy. Otherwise, I think I’m pretty much ok. Sure, sleeping isn’t that easy anymore with a tummy the size of a watermelon but so far I’ve managed to sleep through the night with the occasional trips to the loo.

I think we’ve pretty much bought everything we need for the baby. At least for her first few weeks. We can always buy or add more stuff later. Wow, this is really happening! I don’t think I’ll write again soon. Hopefully I’ll be able to share my experience in labour with you! I promise I’ll be really honest and not exaggerate. Hehe. Please pray that everything will go well for us… Semoga dipermudahkan semuanya, Amin. Thank you and I’ll be updating again once my lazy hormones are gone. Kisses!!
