...and one more thing

...I'm going back to Penang tomorrow! Yeah, Penang first, holiday later. This time around, it will be a sweet 'revenge' for me because I missed out on a lot of yummy food during my previous visit. I promise I'll diet next year so that I won't have to like..for example, unhook my sarong to sit down after lunch. It's just an example, really. I wouldn't want it to happen to me. God forbid. Hrmm. *innocent*
So I'll be gone for a while and will update once I get back to work, insya Allah. Toodles!

early new year message

In about a week’s time we will be ushering the new year! Time to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate but to celebrate the people in your life! Yeay! Cheers to all these amazing people and may they still be in my life for many, many years to come. Ushering a new year has always been triple fun and blissful knowing that I still have my support system.

1. My family
Awesomest maximus. To my mom who will always be my (secret) best friend. I look forward to go back after work because I know you’d be there to listen to ALL my stories, even the really silly ones. Sundays are dedicated to you, because it’s our time to go shopping! Even in the midst of my exams, you used to bug me to get out of the house and be your maid-in-waiting. I can never thank you enough for all the great, big, small, expensive, cheap things you’ve bought for me and would most probably continue buying because I am after all, the one and only girl *insert angel face here* You are the only one who will entertain my antics, including my very annoying and nerdy requests. My gossip partner, my lunch partner. There will always be moments when we couldn’t see eye to eye on certain issues and I will make you angry and you will scold me and all that but that’s why you’re my mom and I’m your daughter. You’re supposed to tell me off. And I promise to try not to retaliate. To my dad who will always be my (secret) hero. Thank you for not, or at least pretending not to be hurt by all our criticisms and comments. Don’t you know, we all teringin nak jadi juri AF. Plus point for being very sporting, cool and kind. Andddd, no matter how hard it is you make me try to get the things I want, thank you for getting it for me in the end. Even though sometimes you’d put me through a tough hurdle before I can get it. Hehe. By a hurdle I mean listening to your lecture on how manusia should never lupa diri. No matter what you two are the best and I would always put my parents above anyone else. I’d rather spend time and hang out with them than my friends.(erkkkk). I swear. I can be so happy with them. I cannot imagine life without them. And to my siblings, I don’t need to write because siblings are siblings. You love ‘em, you hate ‘em, they’re still in your blood. But my siblings are great, I have absolutely no reason to hate them. All in all, without them too I will not survive. After all, they are the reason my parents are thankful they have me. Haha.

2. My friends
To Meq, for showing me that there is life after our identical purple bicycles, that we will eventually have our own boyfriends(and you, a husband) so that we won’t ever have to play our ‘you jadi boyfriend, I jadi girlfriend’ game, that with a little make-up and different hair-dos no idiot would call us the Siamese twins anymore, that no matter what, some things will remain unchanged (like your handwriting for example). I am who I am because of what we ate when we were teenagers, what we watched in the cinemas, who we were/are friends with and what we talked about on the phone. And come February (insya Allah) you will teach me the meaning of life by introducing baby ***** to the world. You are going to be a wonderful mummy (but don’t keep him waiting for his milk ok?)
To the rest, Kak Tinie – for teaching me the ‘sexy’ cool dance moves (serious please girls find the video), for being the first to introduce me to boys because you were the first among us to have a boyfriend, for being daring and brave to try new, weird and even unacceptable things. We all know you’re one of a kind. :) Kak Anis – you’re my (secret) idol. In 2008, you’ve taken a big and I would consider it brave, step. I am so happy for you and I hope all your plans for 2009 will come true. And Ayu – you’re just you. The small-time gangster of pinkgincu. Treat Acip nicely will you, he’s such a good boy. :)
The ones Neesa would call ‘kesayangans’ – everyone is doing their own thing now as 2008 marked an ‘end’ to our many blissful years together. Of course it is inevitable that we’d be too busy with our careers (haha!Dah lama nak guna that word, give me a chance please) but hopefully we will remain close, in our own way. I’m glad that at least I have my two favourites here with me in AGC. Knowing that you girls are just a block or a floor away really makes me feel secured. Next year, hopefully this self-appointed senior partner of the group would plan more get-togethers. This year I admit I have been pretty lazy and busy building my career (one more time please..) Please shoot me. Hehe.

3. The special one
Uhhhhh where do I start? 2008 has been very kind to us and I dare say that I (personally) feel this year is better than the last. And hopefully next year would be just as wonderful. I think I’ve always made it a point to remind myself and others, if I may, that nothing is ever smooth-sailing. Be it friendships or relationships. Initially, I didn’t understand a thing about falling into a steady pace in a relationship, and ‘settling down’ in that sense. I’ve always thought that if you love somebody there shouldn’t be that famous ‘one-year itch’. And sparks would continue to fly whenever we’re together, a second apart would feel like a year and no day is ever complete without a long, fulfilling telephone conversation. But then I’ve learned that being in a comfort zone is not that bad either. I think that over the years, and especially now, I am more sure of my feelings than ever. I still have butterflies in my stomach whenever we go out, efforts are still made, missing him is still a routine but all the while keeping in mind that there is no need to expect the relationship to be fairytale-like all the time. No high expectations and I’m a happy bird. And the funny thing is, the moment you relax a little and just go with the flow, that’s when everything will be turn out to be perfect. I don’t know, I can’t even explain it properly in writing and everything’s all jumbled up here but I do know that I have the deepest love for him and this year, it grew even deeper and stronger. There you go.

And to everyone else – friends, acquaintances, anyone who has crossed my path before and touched my heart in various ways, I’m wishing you a very happy new year and may God bless you always. :)

Yes, love all around is a cause for celebration and combined with a feeling of utter gratefulness, it is worth more than a million fireworks. Not that I don’t appreciate a good display of fireworks (I am a fan!) but honestly, I don’t mind a ‘spiritual’ celebration. I have been blessed and loved for all these years and I’d like to end this year with a great big thank you to the Almighty. I want to be a better person next year. In all aspects. That’s my one and only resolution. :)

‘Til then, goodbye Kuala Lumpur and hello Jakarta!

'tis the season to spend money

The year-end sale is evil. Just because it's the end of the year and it's the holiday season and it's also the 'generous' season, it doesn't mean that they have the right to lure us into buying things that we already have or we don't really need. I know there's no compulsion in retail therapy but there's this thing called impulse-buys! Just because it's on sale, we'd be stupid to miss the opportunity right? Just because it's 50% off-look-oh-my-god-it's-only-RM60-after-discount, it doesn't mean we.need.to.get.it. But, of course just like everybody else, I'm also an idiot and a sucker for a 'good bargain' and so I bought 6 items last weekend alone. But kinda think of it, 4 out of which are office wear and office wear cannot be considered as a purchase because it's a necessity. And after all, I work to get paid to buy clothes for work, of which I will wear to work and will continue working to buy clothes for work. Weird, but justified. Hmm.

I have been in an extra merry mood because it's Christmas. I love Christmas. Places are extra beautiful and everyone's extra nice. I am extra nice, extra loved-up. I don't know, I've always loved Christmas and the holiday season. There's an all-round positive vibe kan? Or maybe it's because I will be on leave from Thursday onwards 'til the new year. :) That must be it! Hehe. I will be celebrating new year in Jakarta! I've celebrated new year in a few other countries before so I don't know how Christmas and New Year celebrations are like in Jakarta. And as for Malaysia, Mandarin Oriental's New Year's Eve celebration is the best, so far. (Not that I've been to any other hotels...;p) After all, I'm only into the countdown and fireworks part of the night so the celebration suited my style perfectly. I didn't have to jostle for a good view of the fireworks, I had my (free) party hat on, lots of comfortable sofas, free flow of food and drinks...you should try it. :)

Oh, breakfast time.

r-e-s-p-e-c-t

June 30th 2008

The funny thing about respect is that, you can’t differentiate what is and what isn’t respect. When you say that you want someone who respects you, it could be translated into various forms of respect. I respect you, therefore, I don’t tell you off and allow you to live in denial. I respect you, therefore, I am silent. I respect you, therefore, I will obey your orders and wishes. I respect you, therefore, I understand your principles. I respect you, therefore, I will not raise my voice.Or does by respecting somebody means you would be honest and frank with that person and tell her/him things that she/he doesn’t want to know? Or that you would apologize knowing fully well that it wasn’t your fault? I don’t know. I guess just like being in love, respect is always on the borderline with stupidity. Like, you can’t differentiate what’s right and wrong sometimes. You’re not sure when’s the right time to stand up and say hey, I’m not going to respect you anymore because you did this and that.
It is so underrated these days. People just don’t respect other people anymore. Everything’s a bit too modern for my liking. Everything and anything goes. It’s a free country. There’s nothing wrong about being wrong. There’s nothing right about being right. It’s now cool to be uncool, fashionable to be old-fashioned. So in the world where anything is possible, nothing is ever a mistake, where does respect fit in that? Is it even relevant anymore? Or am I the only one who thinks that it is the one value that we musn’t forego and thus, if we have respect, for each other, for the elderly, for the children, for our lovers and friends – things would be different, somehow. Just think about it. Think hard about the times when you ignored your friend’s sms on purpose. Think hard about the times you did not pick up the phone because you were just too lazy. Think hard about the times you have lied. What about the time your friends might need you and you weren’t there? If you have respect, and you respect these people in your life, you wouldn’t have done those things.
It’s so difficult to be respectful sometimes. Especially when it is not reciprocated. Just like love, it should never be a one-way thing.

good morning monday

Define happiness.

1. Finding the perfect top I’ve been searching for and it’s only RM29! I couldn’t believe my luck, I had to pinch myself and the salesgirl. To think that just a few hours before my great, magnificent discovery I actually considered buying an almost similar top (but it did not even fit my criteria pun..) for RM109! *shudders*

2. Waking up to a packet of my favouriteeeee nasi lemak. (Abang Kelantan, you’re my Sunday hero). Oh and just as a reminder to myself – STOP writing or even thinking about food.

3. Taking a new handbag out of its dust bag, transferring all the junk from the other handbag and introducing it to the sun and rain for the first time. Ahh… :) Eh, berlagak? Siapa? Mana?

4. Hanging out with si dia regardless of whether it’s at a swanky shopping mall or the police station! (That was on Saturday. Accident. Minor damage, don’t worry) Yes, I am a very simple girl. Ehem.

5. Eating stir-fried chee cheong fun with tomyam soup. Weird combination I know but I- wait, I said enough! It’s all your fault tummy 1 and tummy 2!

Happiness is subjective. Whatever makes you happy just makes you happy. It need not necessarily make another person happy, and others might not even understand but it’s okay. I believe that it’s our own (and nobody else’s) responsibility to ensure that we’re as happy as we could possibly be. It’s great if there are people out there who think we’re worthy enough of their time and effort to bring joy to our lives but if there isn’t any, we can always count on ourselves.

PB diet

McDonalds' Prosperity burger (PB) is back! The other day I was reading the newspaper and suddenly I saw the huge one-page ad and I (almost) screamed in joy. I am so excited! But I know some outlets tak pandai buat, that's why the satisfaction differs from one place to another. Last night I went to the outlet nearest to my place to kickstart my PB-laden month. And it was good, just the way I like it. Mmm, nyum nyum. I don't know (and don't care) about you but I really like it and since it's for a limited time only, I'll try to eat as many PBs as I could. Or else, I'll have to wait for another year! You know, like Raya. Why do you eat so much during Raya? Because it's Raya right? It's a joyous-setahun-hanya-sekali occasion. The same goes to PB. :)
So, "indulge yourself with its appetizing, irresistable, classic juicy beef patty dipped with aromatic Prosperity black pepper sauce and layered with fresh onion slices. Satisfy your long awaited craving for the true taste of prosperity". (Slurrp!!)

if i were a boy haha

Just like everything else in life, I have never expected my relationship to be perfect. I understand the trials and obstacles that I have to face. Be it in the form of mistakes done by ourselves, third party influence and sheer stupidity. I know. We do stupid things when we’re emotional. Or at least I do. But today I’ve decided to stand up for the ‘stupid’ things we’ve always done. Because I don’t think it’s stupid or silly or annoying. It should be legalised! There should be a law to regulate the permissible acts in a relationship. I would include these in the provisions:

Part I – Phone calls

1. A girlfriend is allowed to call a boyfriend at any hour of the day for any period of time as may be determined by the girlfriend.

2.Without prejudice to the generality of Section 1, a girlfriend is empowered to call a boyfriend to-

(a) gush about her latest purchase(s)
(b) whine, rant, complain about her day
(c) ask about his well-being
(d) make no sense at all
(e) be all romantic and remind him how much she misses him or the likes of it
(f) convey any other messages necessary for the purpose of carrying out the functions of a girlfriend

3.No boyfriend shall put down the phone before ensuring that the girlfriend is no longer on the other line.

4.The language used at all times must be the sweetest and most soothing, preferably Sanskrit.

5.No voices should be raised and foul language is strictly prohibited. This is a very serious offence.

6.When the phone rings, a boyfriend must drop everything to answer the call. This includes taking the necessary measures to-

(a) pause the DVD player; and
(b) pause any games played on any devices

7.The girlfriend has an absolute discretion to exclude any boyfriend from the provisions enumerated in Part I. Even so, these provisions will still override her discretion (in case she has been bribed or is temporarily insane) by considering the matter on a strict case to case basis and only on very reasonable grounds. The reasonable grounds include, but is not exhaustive to, the following:

(a) death of a family member
(b) own death

Bye. See lah if I have the time and enough fat in my body, I’ll write Part II.

mr.clock please strike five!

A few (minor) problems post-lunch:

1. Skirt ketat melampau. I wish I could change into a sarung right now! It makes sitting on my chair uncomfortable (not that sitting on anybody else's chair is any different).

2. White shirt kena curry. Magic ok. Pagi datang with a crisp white shirt, after lunch I've 'changed' into a new shirt - white with random orange polka dots. :) Tadaa!

3. Skirt crumpled, wrinkled in a very chronic way. This is also very magical ok. It does look like I've changed into a different skirt. I don't even know what is the material of the skirt...it's a cross between silk, cotton and chiffon. Haha. Ada ke? I bought it from Edmundser, thinking that I'm paying extra for the quality. Hmph. (But this is just an exception lah).

4. As a result, when we reached the restaurant, malu nak masuk because of the skirt even though (I KNOW) nobody was looking or even cared about me. *rolls eyes*

5. It is so cold in the office lately. Knee-length skirts no more. Or else I'll have to resort to wrapping my legs with a pashmina (like what I'm doing now). Tomorrow I'm bringing my gloves and beanie (ps:my mom told me ada tau orang buat macam ni so don't think I'm joking ha)

growl

The cafeteria downstairs is closed. That means no nasi kandar with finger-licking-good fried chicken and waffles for us today!! Shucks! :( I heard that tomorrow it will be closed too! Lamanya cuti. So we've decided to go out for lunch. We have to! If nobody else wants to go out then I will go out alone. It's darn cold here in the office, it makes me hungry. I will not starve. Hmm...but oh, two more hours to go. The office is rather empty. Everyone's still on a Raya break. Today's going to be a lazy day.

no breakfast today!

Thank you thank you thank you. I am so thankful I don’t even know where to begin.

Whenever I’m feeling extra thankful and grateful for all the wonderful people and things in my life, I try to change for the better. First up, of course I will have to strive to be a better Muslim, but there’s no need to elaborate on that because it goes without saying. There’s no need to be righteous pula di sini because I am nowhere near ‘knowledgeable’ in that field. The next thing to do is to be a better person towards others. Ohhh how I wish I could be a nicer person! How I wish I would never utter a single bad word about anybody for the rest of my life. How I wish I love everyone and everyone loves me. How I wish I could lend a helping hand more often. How I wish I am less selfish. How I wish I would never think of myself as better than anyone else in this world. How I wish I’m a hardworking employee. How I wish I am kinder, nicer, gentler, sweeter. Oh how I wish I am simply just a good person. Am I? Hmm..macam mana nak jadi orang se-perfect tu? I don’t think it’s even possible. After all, I’m only human and nobody’s perfect. (Don’t say “I am Nobody” :p) Even the Prophet made mistakes, and he is sebaik-baik manusia. Even though my flaws and mistakes are wayyy bigger lah kan. As a human-being, I can’t avoid to be greedy sometimes, sombong maybe, riak (please, no!), angry, jealous, dengki, judgmental and all that (even though please minta dijauhkan everything!). But I know I can always try to eliminate all the negativity in my life, and do the best I can, even if it means taking baby steps! Once in a while it’s good to have a wake-up call, a break in between the hustle bustle of our everyday lives, to have a thorough evaluation of the person that we’ve become. The good things – we shall keep and the bad things – please put it in the dustbin, add up some positive goals/values here and there and then we’re all set to go for another round of living. Until our next ‘check up’.

It is not always that we realize how lucky and blessed we are so whenever we do find ourselves in that situation, make the most of it. Sedikit sebanyak I’m sure some bits of good things will seep into our souls and that is always a start to something better.

work it!

I'm going back late today. And it could be really, really late. :( Thank God Monday is a public holiday. And thank God my parents are coming back tomorrow from Dubai. Agak lonely. Hmm, I'm feeling really whiny today. So good luck to whoever's around. Haha. Actually, I have to admit that sometimes I do act like a 5 year-old kid. What with the homesick-ness (yes, while I was in Penang), and missing my parents yang baru pergi seminggu. I am a 5 year-old seeking attention but there's nobody willing to give me that attention. Yes, please don't count on him. He's probably like the Cikgu Disiplin with strict orders when to do what. I hate Cikgu Disiplin (in school). So I'm just stuck at home, after work, with nobody to talk to (besides the maids), I have dinner alone in front of the tv, I watch the tv for a while and then sleep at 9 or 10. And today I've got something to do that requires me to be at Sungai Besi after office hours and that thing will most probably drag 'til midnight. I can't complain kot as it's not everyday that I have to work long hours.
I forgot to wear my watch today. No wonder I felt like something was missing as I was leaving the house. I cannot live without a watch because I love looking at the time (like every 10 minutes). Hmph! Now all I need is for someone to make me happy during lunch hour. Any takers?

let's see...

Saturday, November 17, 2007

I think there’s a very thin line between wanting to fit in and standing by your own principles. Most people cross the line without even thinking twice, foregoing the values their parents have tried so hard to instil. I stumbled upon something which I find very sad and disturbing. But then again maybe I’m the odd one out. Maybe I hold on to my principles too much that I tend to become rigid. Maybe I’m the only one who finds the phenomena disturbing. Maybe I’m the only one left on the other side of the line.

I’ve always admired people who are able to be themselves. People who are confident enough to be different (in a positive way) and to believe in what they think is right, despite what others have to say. There are certain things I wouldn’t do, simply because if I do those things I wouldn’t be me anymore. I’ve made a promise to myself and I shall keep that promise. I know what it feels like to have come so close to losing somebody who means the world to me. When you’ve been through that experience, you’d change, somehow. Because I know I did. I’ve witnessed the people dearest to me begging for second chances to live. And it was then that I realized that there’s so much more to life than what we think. From then onwards I try to put some meaning into my life. I don’t want to go through day by day doing things I don’t really want to do but I’ll do it anyway for the sake of fitting in. Not many people understand my reasons. I don’t bother explaining it to them either. The fear of losing is always there. I can never shake it off. For me, every second is precious. I’ll always have this paranoia in me. The what-ifs.

I have tons of fun my own way. I enjoy reading tremendously. I enjoy shopping with my girlfriends, my mom and sometimes, even on my own. I love going out with my best friends. We do 'romantic' things together. I love talking with the people I love – my friends, my family. Conversations could go on for hours. I’d get to know them better and vice versa. I’d rather spend time getting to know the people who make me smile everyday. I think life is all about loving others, whoever they may be. At the back of my mind I know that I have to let go a little, live a little. I’d lose them anyway even if I tried not to because it is beyond my control, isn’t it? Like my grandparents. I didn’t even get to say goodbye despite the fact that I could have, if I tried hard enough. My priorities were different then. My priority was to fit in, to make friends, to act cool and to pretend. And I live with that regret. (I should've spend that Saturday with her, but where was I? Out with people who doesn't even care about me) And thatis only part of the whole emotional turmoil I went through. I thought of everything I've said and done..and even some of the things that crossed my mind irked me. My priorities have changed a long time ago. But I only realized it when it was too late. Now I'm learning how to forgive myself.

I have no idea where this is going. Sorry. It just suddenly occurred to me that everyone should be allowed to live by their own principles. And nobody has the right to barge into someone else’s life and take those principles away. Just let them be. It doesn’t make them any less of a person than you are. Being different shouldn't hurt so much. Don't worry. Just be yourself.

hold up!

This blog has a different feel to it. I don't know why but it's just not the same as parachutes. I think I will transfer all my previous blog entries here. Maybe then I'll feel more at home. So most probably, many of the next few entries for this month will be taken randomly from many of my previous blogs. Alright, change is good.

let's see how far we've come?

So many things to do, so little time! That’s exactly the best description of our Penang trip. But of course, we were there for a meeting, not a holiday. Too bad time wasn’t on our side and transportation was a real bummer too. We came by bus, so we didn’t have a car to drive down from Ferringhi to experience the best of what Penang has to offer. On the day that we arrived, my aunt came over to give me fresh orchids and my favourite chocolate cake in the whole wide world – freshly baked by my other aunt. (Both aunts live in Penang). It is so rare that people go all out to do special things for me and I was deeply touched! It was so very kind and thoughtful of them. Little things like that can make me happy for days ok. See, I’m easy to please. :) Later on, we had dinner at the beautiful al fresco-style dining area in the hotel. We ate at the hotel all the time even though the food was just so-so. Seriously, sakit hati knowing that all the good and wayyyy better food are out there just waiting for us. But there was nothing we could do. :( After dinner, we went shopping at Penang’s famous night market. It was just right outside our hotel anyway.

For the next two days, we had meetings from morning ‘til evening. But I didn’t attend most parts of the meeting as I was the liaison officer for SG II. Arranged and coordinated activities around her flight schedule and all that. However, the best part of being the L.O was the opportunity to dine out of the hotel, even though it was only for one particular lunch hour but it was at one of my favourite restaurants in Penang. Where else but Hainan Town! I think I wrote about the place in one of my previous entries. Being a Penangite myself, I think it was a smart move for them to pick me as the L.O as I was the one who recommended the restaurant. The food was superbly yummy, as usual. Ahh, best!

Hmm, what else did we do in Penang? After meetings, we hung out by the beach – as decently and innocently as possible as our big bosses were also there with their families. Some of them played water sports yada yada. After dinner, we packed our snacks and lepak at the lounge chairs underneath some tall coconut trees overlooking the beach. That was reallyyyy nice. On our last night there, we were determined to DO something so we searched high and low for a karaoke spot but surprisingly there was none anywhere near the hotel. We walked for quite a bit sampai macam reach a ‘ghost town’ when we saw one karaoke shop called Sinar. But it was not only super dodgy, we weren’t even sure whether it was closed or open for business. We gave up, bought ice-creams and went to bed.

On Sunday, before we headed back home, the bus made a stop at Chowrasta Market as some of them wanted to buy buah pala. Of course I didn’t buy any. Like they said, malu lah if orang Penang pun beli souvenirs to bring back home. Hehe. But anyway, just as a pointless info, I used to buy my school bags there, at the shops along Jalan Chowrasta. I think some of the shops are still there. I remember how my grandparents used to bring me there to choose my school bag and how I loved changing my school bag and getting a new one. I guess my love for bags is not that new after all. :)

After a journey that felt like forever, (despite the fact that the bus ride was so much fun with all their corny jokes and I wasn’t the slightest bit dizzy) we reached Putrajaya and everyone cheered. Haha, I guess there really is no place like home. I was extra lucky that day because si dia picked me up. Another light in my life, so yes, I’m very grateful.

Monday was my second convocation. I call it second convo because I give up trying to explain to some people why I have two convocation ceremonies. I know that LL.B Hons is THE one that matters but somehow, I felt like my BLS convo was a lot merrier and well-earned. Maybe because for BLS I had to go through 4 years of law school (including pre-law) and betul-betul puas...whereas for LL.B Hons, it was only 2 semesters (even though the 2 semesters weren’t easy). But yes, emo tetap emo especially when we sang the UiTM song. Because that was probably the last time we’d ever sing that song. When would we get to sing it again? Perhaps never. So it was very sentimental. And I’m thankful to God for the sweet success. I also received two other awards - the faculty’s best student and best student for the Hons. programme and the awards came with a cheque. But I don’t think I’m going to spend it (yet). I’ll put it in my savings. Yes, I’m wiser now. :) Anyway, now that I have officially graduated, I’ve got to say this. First class degrees are not enough. It doesn’t make you any superior than the rest, just maybe better in terms of the results. It is not the yardstick to determine your future. Those with third class degrees may some day earn more than you do but it wouldn’t matter if you know what you’re doing and most importantly, love what you’re doing. I know that I will continue learning, through experience or from others especially now that I’m in Drafting. It is nothing like what we’ve learned in law school, and I’m learning. Either from the seniors, colleagues (regardless of who scored higher in law school) including the legal assistants. There are a lot of brilliant people out there. I can learn a lot from them. I’m still clueless on a lot of things, I don’t have the answer to everything despite the A’s. I may be a lot of things but I’m not one who would look down upon others. We could all learn from each other kan? :)

Anywayssss, now I’m back in the office. Ready to get back to work. Yeah right. I think my mind is still in Penang and my break on Monday. Haha.

special weekend

*special in different ways, special nevertheless*

very funny, people...

That was a false alarm. There're no way we're going by train. So, they lied to me! Cheiiittt. So naughty. And me being me, (read: gullible to the max) happily believed them. We're going by bus anyway. ;p

*yawn* and tired

Ok. I'm updating my blog from the parliament. What a poser kan? Haha. Whatever. I really deserve a break from hearing the debate as I have about 4 more hours to go!! Cramp kaki. So not nice. It's going to end late tonight because the Dewan is running out of time to discuss on the Budget. So far, no Chambers issue (yet). Thank God for the sole eye-candy in this House. I'm seated right behind him. Ha-ha. And no, it's not KJ please.

I don't know how I'm going to survive. I ate two pieces of french toast. And that was my breakfast and lunch. I'm munching on mentos non-stop, I feel a bit sick in the tummy. Poor lil ol' me. None of my friends are online, none of my friends are free to go on a SMS-frenzy with me. I'm stuck here, with cramps. (My backside hurts, ouch!)

Let's talk about something else. A distraction, please. Weekend weekend weekend. Last weekend and also this upcoming weekend. Last weekend I had a jolly good time (again!). The wholeeeee family + family friends, about 20 of us went to watch Impak Maksima The Musical. I love it when the cars are on stage and aksi-aksi drift. Thrill! The songs are really good, so good job catty Cat. We were there primarily to support him pun..so, congratulations on a job well done.

Din's birthday was celebrated with lots of catching up over breakfast. Yerla, I can't even remember the last time we took a picture together. It was nice to meet up and all those missing years simply disappeared. And of course it felt like only yesterday we were all together, arguing on where to go for lunch. It couldn't have been any other way as that's the way it will always be - like how I told you Din. ;)

Ohh..the girls also berjumpa for dinner at Bora Asmara. No need to tell lah, I'm sure you can guess by now what we did. I don't think we did much talking kan, it was laughter and giggles all the way. Cannot even form one sentence ok. Loco. We took pictures, of course. Cat was asking you girls tak sick and tired ke of taking pictures with each other and we said nooooooooooo. Taking pictures is fun but taking pictures with your loved ones is pure bliss! Boleh happy just looking at the pictures. So, if anybody out there is sick of looking at the sameeee poses, sameee faces, sameeee-whatever, I don't care. ;) My boyfriend was with me throughout the weekend, here and there, so it was double the fun - seperti biasa whenever we're together.

And this weekend, I'll be in Penang for a division meeting. We're all either going by bus or train. Train!!! The last time I was on a train, masa naik eurotrain to Paris. As for a Malaysian train, I think it was wayyyy back when I was still in pre-school, when I was still living with my grandparents in Penang. I used to travel to KL to visit my parents by train. Comel kan? Haha. So I really can't remember how it feels like to be on a train. Is it nice? Hmm, but the thought of being in Penang itself is comforting. Yummy food, please.

I need to pay attention to the debate. Later.

dear friend

I used to be Mr.Traffic Jam's best friend. I'd see him day and night. Just name it, we have been through it all together - rainy days, stormy days, bumper to bumper crawl, side mirror to side mirror crawl, you kiss my ass I kiss your ass crawl - through thick and thin, you could put it that way. I've sacrified a lot for him - my sleep, my appetite, an hour or two off my dates. And even when nature called, I put him first. We were inseparable.

But ever since I started working in Putrajaya, I hardly see him anymore. Occasionally we'd meet up for small chats but we haven't had our longggg and winding heart to heart conversation for a long time now. I know, as a best friend, I should be sad that we're drifting apart. But surprisingly, I don't feel sad at all. In fact, I feel downright relieved. Because to tell you the truth, he was getting a little too clingy. He wanted to be with me all the time and wherever I went, he was my constant companion. Maybe I'm a bad friend. Yes, I am so mean. I relish my extra hour of sleep and I feel so calm now that I don't have to worry or think about him constantly.

However, he gave me a surprise visit yesterday on my way home from KL. Ok, I admit that the timing was perfect. After all, it was practically a time slot dedicated just for him and I should have anticipated that he would be there. I mean, where else would he be at that hour of the day? I feel guilty now because I didn't greet him well. I wasn't all warm and friendly...not that I was ever the warm and friendly kind of friend before. But I swear, I didn't even look at his face, I was too busy cursing under my breath. He was still the same. Jovial and happy - too happy in fact to see me. He must have missed me terribly...but I just couldn't feel the same way even if I tried. You know how sometimes in life, there are just some 'friends' you wish you never had? He is one of them.

I ended up spending almost an hour with him yesterday. He hurt my left hand because I can't lift my left hand now. He brings nothing but trouble. I know I can't avoid him forever but one of these days, I'm really going to tell him off and end our friendship for good. I hope he'll be able to take it. And I hope he'll make some new friends soon.

ps: Confirm, I am crazy.

simply lovely

Round round round.

That's the shape of my face. :) Wait, shape? What shape???

Ok, that was just a selingan. My weekend was fantastic or you could call it, awesomeeee. (re: moouis). What I did was, I had time for everybody! Squeezed in a little hour or two here and there and voila, everyone's satisfied. Or so, I hope. I went to a family friend's engagement on Saturday and I loveeee her minimalist, very English, very chic mini pelamin AND her hantaran for the guy. I have the pictures so I will upload it later - provided that you all don't go tiru ok because I want to copy first. Hehe. I'm so glad I went because I love to see beautiful things and beautiful people, love to see her all made up and all that. Oh..and ok, because of the food too. Cupcakes ummm! After all, what good is a wedding/engagement without cupcakes/cakes? And I'm the biggest hantu cake ever. Serioussssssssss.

So after the engagement, I rushed to Capsquare to show some love and support to my soulsister. And also because I promised the girls I'd be there. Did a little shopping, rubbed Meq's tummy, took pictures (of course), laughed another hundred times and then off to Pavilion for dinner with si dia. Hmm, interesting.

Sunday was as per usual, family time! Accompanied my mom here and there and the day ended with a yummy, fattening dinner at Sunway. And this contented girl slept soundly throughout the night until the alarm woke her up this morning to bring her back to reality!!

But then, this morning I had a pleasant surprise. My dear boss approved my leave application! So now I can't wait for that little mini holiday at the end of the year and also my Convocation (even though I know quite a number of people tak pergi but I'm still going because I love being the first in line, if you know what I mean...hehe). And tomorrow I'm going to the Parliament so I can wake up late because the thing starts at 10. :) Ok, so far so good. A good way to start the day kan?

You go and have a good day too alright?

evil beevil

I must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Not good. Not much better than yesterday. Or maybe, I just woke up late. And that's the start to everything bad. Evil evil sleep. Oh, actually, I should blame it on the dream that kept me asleep for so long. It should have been a nice one but come to think of it, the dream is sad. Because it shows how much I've been thinking of that event, sampai termimpi. Nasib tak demam (God forbid). I hate whoever's doing whatever to me. Haha, what a general statement.

*an attempt to have a positive mind* - Look, 3 more days 'til the weekend (excluding today). Alright?

No, work's not bogging me down even though I have 32 drafts to check! Work is ok, fine and bearable. After all I'm paid to do this. Tapi tapi tapi, all the other side issues ni yang so freaking annoying.

Huhh..breathe in, breathe out. I think I want to take up yoga. Belum haram kan? I still have a few days then. :)

is it just a myth?

I'm hit by the Monday blues yet again. I've always thought that it doesn't exist, that it's all just in the mind. Cliche. (Macam cliche anak lelaki orang kaya mesti berkemeja putih dan berseluar khaki. Haha!) But it's real alright! And the prescription is so simple - skip Mondays and let's move on with our lives. :) But of course on the positive side, let's all be thankful to God that we're alive and well today. Blessed to have another day, another chance to be a good person and love the people around us.

I don't know what is it that I'm feeling right now. Nervous? Scared? Bored? Restless? I can't seem to identify with just one feeling but whatever it is, it's not nice. I woke up early today out of worry. Worried about what exactly - that I'm not sure of. You know, sometimes you just don't feel right and you don't know the reason! This is one of those days. One of those 'down' days.

It's still so early in the morning. *sigh* I've got a long day ahead of me.

eh hie!

Things have been pretty hectic in the office lately. I'm taking 5 minutes off to say hello to my readers, if any. I have so many things to rant about...but it will have to wait. Hmm, I'm hungry. One more hour til lunch time! Aghh!

Monday, November 3, 2008

just a short one

I had dinner at Genji (Japanese restaurant), PJ Hilton last night. The unagi was heavenly! Nyum nyum. Butttt, my favourite will have to be the green tea ice-cream. The best so far. Mmmm...I wish I could have a scoop of it everyday. *dreamy*

There's someone I miss so dearly. Do you know who you are?

This week will be a good week. It's only Monday but I'm determined to make the most of this week. So even if I have tons of work/last minute work to do, I will remain calm at all times. Yes, I will. *positive thinking* (Note: I'm not a last minute person at all and I can't stand not completing my work a.s.a.p but sometimes I don't have a choice when the task is given to me at such a short notice).

Ok bye.

it's friday yay

A couple of days ago our division organized a Raya do. I must have eaten like a pig because I still feel bloated 'til today! Last night I went out with babybooch pun I didn't eat that much. It was a rare sight. My body is probably finally saying no to all the scrumptious raya food. So anyway, I was the MC for the event and I have some pictures to share butttt it's not in this pc. ;) I never knew I could MC, I thought I would totally suck at it but I think I did ok. I guess all those years as the official story-teller for my school paid off. Nasib tak keluar hand gestures and all. You know, that "...pada suatu hari" hand-thing. I used to be a natural. Hehe. But now everything's a bit rusty but hey, you can still count on me to tell a good story. When I read books for kids, I read it wholeheartedly. Sometimes the kids ignore me (they must think I'm crazy) and sometimes they're interested. It's ok, you can't please everybody. I can't wait for the long weekend! I want to sleep, sleep, sleep, apples and baninis. Ohh..but I've got to attend my boss punya open house. And a wedding. And a few other open houses. Ugh, no more food please!!

pissed off

So angry. So so so so so angry. This is so me. I haven't felt this way for a long time now. Please just die and go to hell. That would be lovely, thanks.

ps: Who do you think you are? Oh how I wish I could just tell the world all about you.

Monday, October 20, 2008

no monday please!!

I had a small raya do at my place yesterday. It was my parents' affair but I invited some close friends over and my brother did the same and my sister in law invited her friends too so it became merry! Pictures are in FB (ceh, sejak bila I upload pictures in FB ni??). But I'll share some of my favourite ones here later. Oh, and if you noticed, I will usually update my blog very early in the morning. That's because my official working hour starts at 8. And I'm in the office pretty early. So, what else, update and upload! (That's another reason why now baru rajin upload pictures dekat FB!) It was nice meeting up with some former schoolmates..lama tak jumpa. And the girls and their families too. If not for the open house, I don't know when we'll make it a point to meet up. It was very, very riuh and fun. Nia was okay at first and then she became moody, probably because everyone was trying to hold her, kiss her and play with her so dia rimas! She's just too adorable, that's why everyone's crazy about her. Hehe. All in all, I'm dead tired this morning but it was all worth it! Love love love my girls, Uni girls and boys, school girls and si dia.

space out

I'm back in the office after 3 days in ILKAP. I attended a course entitled Perlembagaan Undang-undang Sivil dan Syariah. There were some really enlightening and interesting moments...I learned a lot of new things. We looked at issues from both perspectives and hearing the experienced speakers talk from the syariah perspective really opened my eyes! Ok, even though apa lah sangat yang you can digest in three days, but at least it's better than nothing. Remember, one's learning process is never ending kan? But it was a bit lonely as I was the only one from drafting and the rest were all quite senior officers. They were nice and I mingled but just how much can a super junior talk about something she's totally clueless about? I'm just glad to be back in the office because I've got a few pending matters to settle. And yes, Parliament has started this week. Initially, I was scheduled to go to Parliament on the 30th but because I have another course to attend (yeap, another one...and that means 4 courses in a span of 3 months!), I have rescheduled my 'maiden' appearance in Parliament to the 18th of next month. Drafting officers have to take turns to go to Parliament. What do we do in Parliament? *secret* :) No lah, actually I'm too lazy to explain. Basically, at the end of the day we have to prepare a report.

Dinie got married last week. Congratulations! I went for the akad and reception and on both occasions the bride looked wonderful! Seri pengantin, you call it? Is there such a thing as seri tetamu majlis kahwin? Because it would be such a waste if you only get to be berseri once in your life...and it would be unfair for people like me, who's not getting married yet. I would SO love to have that glow. But I guess, that's why it's special kan? It happens only once in a lifetime and you're supposed to cherish that moment! If anybody can have the glow on demand then, how would you differentiate between the bride and non-brides? See, I've always said that nobody could be prettier than the bride on her wedding day. Even if they tried. Because brides will just look different, somehow! So bride-to-bes shouldn't be so obsessed with their flower girls overshadowing them and what not...

And I hate myself for not bringing along my camera to yesterday's JALSOA open house! JALSOA is like, 'law society' in UiTM la...but it is a combination of both judiciary and legal service. So I met my Court friends like Azali and the SARs I got to know during my attachment in Shah Alam..and the rest from Jabatan, Ministries and all that...so it was really nice to meet up with them! :) But yeah, sadly, no pictures of that event!

Later alligator.

mari belajar mengira

Ahh, it's that time of the year! For the last 4-5 years, this particular time of the semester will be intense. Not extremely stressful just...uncomfortable. Haha. Boleh describe feeling nak exam as uncomfortable? Oh, I forgot to note that for this year's raya I had the most peaceful mind I've ever had in years! That's only because previously, final exams will be right after raya and the week long raya break will be fully utilised to worry. Yes, to worry, not to revise just yet. So now that I don't have to sit for a final exam for the rest of my life, I feel free! But I will miss the exhilaration of having completed a final exam...and the satisfaction that one gets when the results are out! Obviously I won't miss the occasional dissatisfactions and unfairness and what-nots lah kan. Haih, rindu pula that yellow exam slip, which I forgot to bring the first time we sat for a final exam paper in pre-law. Insaf terus after that. :)

I didn't study every day. Yes, contrary to popular belief, and despite the various 'nicknames' given by some friends, I did not study on a daily basis. People have asked me that before and when I answered them, mula lah tak percaya and accuse me of trying to play it coy, or trying to pretend. I don't mind "sharing" whatever tips that you guys think I have...but you must believe me and well, try it yourself! Haha. Ok, throughout the years, I would make it a point to always, always, always attend lectures and tutorials. Just don't skip classes unnecessarily. This is because, the only way I'd understand something is by listening to the lecturer and taking down my own notes based on my understanding. The trick is to understand a particular topic on that very same day - the day of the lecture - in class. Ask questions if you don't understand, or discuss it with your lecturer but try as much as possible to understand the topic, to understand the principles and the significance of the cases immediately. When I say immediately, you should try to understand it within a week. If you don't understand that day's lecture, don't leave it at that. Try to understand. Read up a little (if you must). So that the week after, when a new topic is introduced, you would have at least understood what was taught the previous week. It makes life a lot easier and simpler. It would be a problem if you wait until the end of the semester or until the study break to attempt to understand the topics. By that time, it would be a little too late kot. Sepatutnya masa study break or in between papers tu is the time for you to merely revise and memorise the cases, not for you to read things that are alien to you. That's why I relied on my notes as if my life depended on it. Because the notes were done at the time of the lecture (not later, not at home, not during the study break) and it gave the best picture of how I understood things at the time of lecture. Reference books memang for reference only. You cannot rely on it to make you understand something. You have to understand it based on your own words. The people who photocopied my notes pun tak faham the topics because I wrote for my understanding. So it doesn't matter la incomplete sentences ke, bahasa pasar ke, tiba-tiba ada love notes ke or jokes. Sometimes I made fun of my own sentences with scribbles. So, jadi best nak baca notes tu balik kan? And cases, I only read the significant ones but if I have the time, I'd read up lah mana-mana yang macam best. But the bottom line is, I cannot live without going out and having fun and shopping. So I cannot not have a life and devote my time to studying.

Ok so I was a little busy during LL.B but that did not stop me from doing the things that I love. Hmm, actually I was pretty lazy masa LL.B. I have never stayed back 'til late at night. The latest pun 9-10 tapi itu pun because ada class. Weekends lagi jangan harap. Hehe. Hmm, I wonder how did we survive?? Masa Hons. part 1 ada la a few weekends we had to do our CTA. But Hons. part 2, huhhhhh zero!! Hehe. Maybe one Saturday morning la max, kalau ada pun. Weird but we made it. I think for me, it's about proper time management and knowing what exactly to do. Because sometimes you'd end up wasting time doing things that are not required. My firm is usually pretty straight forward, no frills, and we keep it simple. And we work pretty fast too. I guess a person has his or her own way of studying. So whatever works for you, keep it up! And if you're a junior and is clueless on how to read law, I hope by sharing the 'tips' (as above) would help! :)

My boyfriend's sitting for his final exam, so I have lots and lots of sympathy for him...because I can go out and have fun on weekends and he can't! But then later when he's on that longggg break I'm sure to be jealous of all his free time - on weekends and weekdays too. Hmph.

Wow, what a long post!

dream a little dream

Ok. There's nothing I want more than that. My whole life, my whole existence is for that one, sole purpose. But I understand that there are obstacles and hurdles I have to overcome before it can come true. I understand it will never be easy. And I understand that for now or even in the near future, it will remain as one huge big dream. A dream is only a dream. I have been doing things I shouldn't be doing to feed my appetite for all things related to that dream. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, maybe I'm being unreasonable but how unreasonable can I be when my wish is so simple and clear? That person doesn't understand this...and we don't talk about it or try to resolve it. Sometimes it's best to leave it at that because it frightens me to ever have the feeling that I'm still so far away from fulfilling that dream. I've never asked for anything much from anybody. Just a little understanding will do. And support.

What am I talking about? Haha, mesti ada assumptions ni but if you know me, you'll know.

backkk!

Helllooooooooo! I'm back from a (much needed) week-long break! And honestly, it hurts having to wake up early this morning but I better start getting used to it again. How was your raya? I'm sure it was filled with lots of fun, laughter and merriment. My celebration in KL wasn't that bad either. It was better than last year. I guess last year we were still clueless on what to do for Raya since it was the first time ever we celebrated raya out of Penang. This year, there was an all round festive mood. Everyone was a lot happier, so it was all good. :) Andddddd, I've put on weight. I don't think I ate excessively tapi I still feel heavy. Need. To. Exercise. NOW.

Ok I will update more later. Need to get back to work.

aidilfitri

Honestly, with that amount of ketupats around your cubicle, you will not be able to think of anything else but raya (and ketupat). By the way, that's not my cubicle, it's the legal assistant's cubicle.

And every morning, I'm greeted by these blinking lights (trust me, it's so much more bling bling in real life)... I am now on a full-blown festive mood.

And now they're playing raya songs. That is the ultimate.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir Batin. Will be gone for a week. Wheee! Cuti cuti. :)

belog

It's so funny how some people boleh berperang because of blog entries. I remember mornings when my friends who are still in law school, would text me to inform me that so and so wrote this and this about that and that. Everyone was so angry, including me and I'm not even in Uni anymore! But now when things have escalated to another level, I think it's just plain silly. I'm sure we all have better things to do than get all hyped up over a blog entry. The one thing that has changed the blogosphere that I don't like at all is how it has become a source of mengumpat and mengata. Either it's true or false, it's still either mengata or mengumpat. Either way, it won't make us any better. I'm not saying this to anyone in particular, I'm typing this as a reminder to myself and everyone. Because I'm guilty of that too. A blog entry could spark off so many emotions, so many unwanted, unnecessary attention and reaction. It's only normal. But we should all learn not to care so much about other people's lives, and to refrain from writing controversial issues which would start off a debate/forum where people write nothing but criticisms and mengutuk another person. Perlu ke? And let's not even touch on the issue of blogs being the medium to incite feelings of ill-will. We should not misuse our blogs. Hmm...

of sisters and classmates

Ok, I'm updating!! Are you excited already? Haha.

So let's see..what did I do over the weekend. On Friday after work, I rushed home to change and freshen up because the soulsisters decided to meet up for buka puasa! So off we went to Tony Roma's. The bountiful beef ribs are just so delicious…and the shrimp scampi pasta came in a portion so huge that we had to pack what we could not finish. And then we had the avalanche for dessert! Everything was just so delicious lah. (But I’m still craving for proper brownies with ice cream from Delicious). Everyone was there, which was itself a feat. Except for Kak Tinie who went solo because Cat had some work to do. Otherwise, it was all fun fun fun and I think I laughed so much and so hard that I hurt my back! Someone also went ‘crazy’ and bought a few lovely dresses that night. Yours truly was very well-behaved and did not buy anything although my heart was SO telling me otherwise. I mean, the dresses were really beautiful, but I’m still waiting for the right one. After all, I only have a fraction of the amount of maxi dresses that they have. I have to catch up. I have some of our pictures with our typical, signature pose.

On Saturday, the whole family went back to Penang. As planned, we headed to Hainan for berbuka. The trip was so worth it! After terawih, we went to Kayu for supper. Honestly, Kayu dekat sana is so much better than the one here. So, it would be a huge waste if you go to Penang and not try the amazing array of food available! I swear I’ve gained at least a kg over the weekend! We stayed at my late grandma’s place for the night and on Sunday, we went back to KL. I really miss celebrating raya in Penang. Raya in KL is just not the same. :( Last night, about half of us from LL.B Hons 2A met up at where else but Ole-ole Bali! Everyone enjoyed the food. See, I told you it’s really good and super-highly recommended. It was so nice to meet the class…everyone was still the same and we were still making stupid, lame jokes like we used to. We’ve already planned our next ‘gathering’/open house! Can’t wait. The pictures below are a bit dark so if you know how to photoshop it pleaseeee do me a favour and send the photoshopped version via email to me. I’d appreciate it so much. So dark cannot even see my face. Hmph. Ada some pictures shaky pulak. Rugi mugi.

Amazing A-ians!

"I want to see, let me see, let me see! Me first!"

And today, I'm not actually in the right state of mind. Because something happened yesterday that changed my opinion and respect towards a person. It's hard to explain how and why a simple act could move or hurt a person so much but it happened. It will take some time for me to forget...and it's up to that person to try to regain my trust and respect. It's not a good feeling to have the thought that you could no longer feel safe and protected anymore. This is a perfect example of how being insensitive to another person's feelings and taking another person for granted would lead to. This is the effect and you must bear the consequences.

Anyway, take care darlssss!

sick?

Ughh I'm not feeling well today. Sneezing and sore throat! Hopefully I will manage to avoid the fever...by taking all my meds now. On top of that ada pulak papercut. Ugh, I hate papercuts. The thing is, I have to deal with a lot of papers everyday. So, the possibility of kena papercuts tu is very high. Hopefully I will be ok by tonight or else I'd be uncomfortable and uneasy all the time. *sniff*

round up

One of the few discomforts that I have to face during the fasting month is tummy ache! I go to the toilet at odd hours...I feel uneasy most of the time. Ughh..I hope this pain will go away soon. And my tummy will be growling most of the time too. Ok, that is nothing new, really...(I've had my fair share of embarassing tummy-growling moments).. but come fasting month, it has doubled up in sound and it occurs more frequently than usual. It's not that I'm that hungry...I think the tummy is still unsettled and is trying to get used to the fasting month. Hmm...

I went to a few shopping malls over the weekend. And all the shopping malls played raya songs!! Don't get me wrong, I love raya songs. But I thought it's funny that it's still more than two weeks away from Raya and yet everywhere I turn, I hear Raya songs. Ohh but the other day I heard a Ramadhan song! I think... Am I right? Is there really a Ramadhan song? It's kinda pop-ish but I think it has a ramadhan theme. Or was it just my imagination?

The new Blackberry Bold is on my wishlist. And my birthday is still a good five months away. Care to start saving your money to buy me one? Hehe. If I'm not careful, I might just buy it myself! So much for saving a huge sum of money every month. But ohhh I like it. I know I'm not that busy of a person to actually have a reason to own a Blackberry but does it matter? I might just be busy someday and then, I will need it. So I should just have one now. And pretend to be busy with lots of things to remember and appointments, deadlines to meet.

On a different note, kena ambil darah tu sakit ok!! It's more painful than a normal injection. The doctor had to tell me a 'fairytale' to stop me from (crying?) paying too much attention to the pain. Konon nak divert my mind from the pain lah, but hello, I'm 23! I was grimacing the whole time he was telling the story and of course I felt the pain. Sakitnya... :(

I'm going back to Penang this weekend, insya Allah. But it's just a shorttt one-day trip. Since we're not going back for Raya, my mom thought it would be proper if we go back and visit my grandparents' graves. So that would be the main purpose of our short visit and the plus point is that we get to break fast at Hainan! A really reallyyyyy yummy place to eat. I don't know lah about you, but I really like it there. (But I like it everywhere in Penang). And then on Sunday, most probably, if all goes well, former students of LLB Hons. 2A are going to meet up for buka puasa! Yeay, I love reunions. And I miss all of them so much! Serious rindu all the mini concerts in class, poco poco, Luke's radio station, lunch hour movies, bowling, Azali's shouts, Edi's singing and lotsss more.

Ok, that's it for now. Visit pinkgincu for some retail therapy.

olla molla

Random facts about me today:
  • I have not one, not two, but THREE ulcers on the inner left side of my lower lip. And I'm fasting. And I cannot drink. And it makes it difficult for me to even smile.
  • I love cakes and desserts. Everyday I think about the cakes I want to eat, the desserts I would like to have...and don't even mention brownies with ice cream. I might just faint.
  • I feel dizzy and queasy like, I went to the toilet a few times already. This could be a minor case of food poisoning. So sad!
  • I drove my own car to work today, which I hardly do. Because the swift is a lot easier to park, maneuver and do all the tricks required here in agc.
  • I have a lot of plans in my mind. A lot of people I want to meet. Perhaps if I don't get to break fast with you people, we could just go out after Raya.
  • Serious, I feel really...nauseous. But taknak layan, just in case jadi out of control. I have to drive back nanti, cannot afford to be sick.
  • Yet despite all that I am STILL thinking of yummy desserts. God, please please please be kind to me and let me have my favourite dessert this weekend.

oh,some more...

Have people ever told you... treat others like how you want to be treated, what you give you get back and all that jazz? Well, let me tell you this - it's crap. Because the truth is, you can be the nicest person possible, or you can respect others and their private lives and their boyfriends and girlfriends or you can just sit quietly in your own corner and not mind about others and yet, and yet, people will treat you the exact opposite way you've treated them. So what's the point, really? - of always trying to be sensitive of other people's feelings, always showing respect, always being obedient, always doing as you are told. There is no way, you can stop anyone, be it a friend, an acquaintance or someone closest to you from doing the things you have not done to them. Because people are different, you see. People live by different rules, different principles. What may be acceptable to some people, may not be ok to others. But what if you have tried to set an example, that 'if this is the way I treat you, you must treat me the same way' and it still doesn't work? Here's what you can do - it's pay back time! I know, revenge is sweet, isn't it? :)

early and whiny, already?

Something's totally bothering me. And I hate this feeling. You see, God is always fair. He will never let you have all the good things in one GO. So when things are too good to be true, watch out, there's a bend around the corner.

this and that

Sooo how was your weekend?? Mine was okay. On Saturday, some aunties, uncles and cousins came over for berbuka. We had so much food! Did I tell you how much I love bulan puasa because of the neverending array of food? There's no way I'm losing weight this month. (But I must, I must, I must!) At least two people have commented on how 'round' I am these days. I don't need people telling me that because I have the weighing machine doing the job and yes, it has shown an increase. :( I'm not telling you how much though, because I am still in denial. I love it and yet I hate it when people notice. Is that possible? Whatever. My boyfriend is not complaining (yet). And my family's fine with it. So I guess I'm still okay, and not 'fat'. Oh, my cousin just gave birth to a baby boy! And I think his name is Hakimi. We're all SO going to call him Kimi Kimi. He's really cute. But oh, Nia has got to be the cutest little gangster ever! (Nia is Kak Tini's daughter and you can see her pics at her blog). She's so well-behaved and she makes the cutest sounds ever! At one point, she even went like "woww wweee". Sangat comel ok! Geram gila dekat pipi dia, tangan dia, kaki dia. Anyway, I can't wait to have my own niece/nephew! My sister in law is expecting. Let's pray that everything goes well and by March next year, Insya Allah, I'll have a baby to play around with!
On a different note, the whole e-shopping thing has really taken a toll on me. I keep on clicking and purchasing things online...the thing with online transfer is that you don't realize how much you've spent! Unlike using cash..or even credit card. (I feel guilty guna credit card ok) But online shopping ni is like, there's no end to it! I'm addicted ok.. and I know a few of my friends are equally as addicted too... so I'm not alone. But whatever it is I still spend a fraction of the amount I usually spend at retail stores. So in a way, I'm saving money. Right? But RM60 per day for everyday of the week equals to...ok, quite a lot for a week. So there's no excuse. We all have to cut down, ok friends?? We can do it. Let's do it. (Yeah right, as I'm typing, I'm already browsing through some e-shops).

good food,good company

So yesterday we went to berbuka puasa at Sheraton Subang. It was so good to meet Bats again. I haven't seen her since our Penang trip! And that was months ago. Anyway, we went straight after office...which was quite a mistake because it took us longer than I expected. It was really tiring and combine that with a full tummy, what do you get? A really sleepy person at 9 p.m. The food was good, as usual. But me being me, even though I am so ambitious/tamak/'greedy' when it comes to food, I didn't get to taste everything. By the 3rd round, I was already full. But yeah, it was delicious. Hmm, now I'm thinking about the white sauce pasta which I managed to taste just a mouthful! I should've just taken a full serving for myself. And the desserts! Regrets, regrets. We went because of the special offer made exclusively for Digi users. I'm not a Digi subscriber but Farah is, so she did the whole booking thing. It was so worth it because we got 45% off. Best kan? Plus everyone baru dapat gaji so we can spend a bit more on food. Hehe. I'm going to break fast outside again today, I think. Well, actually I'm not even fasting so I should just say, I'm having dinner outside. But it all depends on when he gets to finish his class and do the things students do (ha-ha, berlagak tak) before he comes to my place. I haven't seen him for daysss now. Madness.

kenalkan...

My heart and soul! Haha. Sangat comel or what? We’ve been together for like, nearly 4 years now. And it has been a real roller coaster ride. We have our ups and downs but I guess we managed to pull through. I know in relationships there will be glitches here and there…and sometimes, uncertainty. I can deal with a lot of things but I can’t deal with uncertainty - not knowing where this might lead us, not knowing the outcome and the ending. I know we can only plan and everything else is up to God but I think if we work (on the relationship) hard enough, surely He will be fair to us. But for a while now, we have stood on solid ground. It has been nothing short of amazing. I know that people may not understand us sometimes but it’s ok because I don’t expect them to. We fit perfectly well together believe it or not. Well, you have to believe it because there’s no other way we’d be able to survive the 3++ years. He complements me. And we both have very, very, simple needs and dreams in life which makes it easier for us to be happy and have fun. No high expectations - just a lot of similarities and yet we’re still two very different people. I don’t expect him to be like me and I don’t think he expects me to be like him. My favourite thing to do when we go out is to just sit somewhere and have a drink and talk. This is the best time to have a heart to heart talk *ehem* or just sit around, do nothing and enjoy each other’s presence. It’s never fancy or elaborate but I still go home feeling like the most-loved woman in the world. Haha. Ok enough jiwang talk for the day. This is just an introduction to another very significant part of my life. Meet my boyfriend. ;)

tra la la la

Guess what? I will be working in the same division as Kak Tini now! Isn't it cool? ;) Jangan jealous. But even before she came in, I've made friends with the people here..they're incredibly nice and motherly and sisterly and brotherly. Haha. I have to apply for Hari Raya leave already because my boss will be away. Hmm, I don't know whether I should take a long break or just a few days. I'm not even sure whether we'll be going back to Penang this year or not. I would LOVE to go back to Penang. The first time we celebrated Raya in KL last year, was the loneliest Raya ever. We didn't do anything much. We ended up watching Raya shows on TV the whole day. At least in Penang, even though we won't be doing a lot of visiting (because my late grandma used to ask us to bring her around but now that she's gone, we don't keep in touch with those people anymore)...but we get to eat all the wonderful food! I'm a true Penangite. I enjoy good food. So let's just hope that everyone decides to go back!

Oh, here's a picture of the dinner that I attended last week. I have about...5 pictures from the night. LOL. Sangat teruk. I didn't even realize it. I want more!!

That's me - and some of the former LL.B Hons students. I see some of them on a weekly basis (like for instance Jaja, Luke etc because they're all DPPs!)...we'd have lunch at Alamanda every Friday, together with the rest from JIM. But for people like Faizah, Farah, Chik and Bari, the last time I saw them was monthsss ago. So it was nice to meet up again. Should've taken more pics though. Hmm.

recharge me

Dah patah kaki. My cellphone battery went dead a few hours ago and since then, I have been doing the whole sitting-walking-sitting-walking thing over and over again. I'm restless! I know there's somebody in this office who owns a compatible charger but I can't find her anywhere! It's killing me. It just goes to show how important a cellphone is to me. No, I don't get phone calls every 5 minutes but I hate the fact that somebody might be trying to contact me (to tell me that I've won a million ringgit). So while waiting for my phone to be reactivated, here I am blogging away from my desk. Yes I'm working now in case you haven't heard. In the AG's Chambers. I absolutely love it here. I'm sure there are pros and cons to everything but what's important is doing something you're good at and being comfortable. I'm not the kind who will over exert myself just to prove something. All my life I've never been the type who wants to show to people that I can do this and that, I can excel. I just did. Without even realizing it. Haha. What I'm trying to say is that you should not overdo everything. Relax, it will come naturally! That's the key. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with my life at this point. ;) That is my stories while waiting for the little charger (!!!). Oh, haha, when I was in pre-law, there was this lecturer - we called him Mr.S - because he loved putting 'S' behind every word. Like, he told us "next week bring one books". God it was so funny. Do you guys remember him? He was reallyyyy nice though. So tak baik gelakkan dia. Hmm...where's the lady with the charger??

selamat berpuasa!

Hello! Selamat berpuasa everyone! You know how I just looooove Ramadhan. The food, oh the food! (Besides everything else, of course) I know everyone will be going to the pasar ramadhan this fasting month. And if you're like me and you love to buy almost everything that you feel like eating, then I'm sure you're going to have a lot of plastic bags to carry right? So yesterday, what I decided to do was, since I cannot stop myself from buying a lot of yummy dishes and kuih muih, the least I could do is to save the environment! I persuaded my mom to carry our own containers to fill in the dishes and I carried an eco bag. I brought along a few tupperwares inside the bag. In the end, I carried zero plastic bag (minus the drinks, because I couldn't find a proper container and also because most of the drinks are usually already packed kan?). It was more convenient than trying to juggle a few plastic bags in one hand like I usually do. And sometimes it hurts too, especially if we have to carry the heavy ones, kan? I'm so going to get a nicer eco bag because the ones I have are not very pretty. Haha. If I'm not mistaken, there are a few places that sell really nice and cool eco bags. And no, I'm not talking about Anya Hindmarch's I'm Not A Plastic Bag. Trust me to turn something so natural and pure into something totally...shallow(?). Oh well, everyone's entitled to his or her own opinion. :)

read at your own risk

If there’s one thing in life that I wish I could change is my love for LV bags. I cannot afford it yet I love it. With the kind of pay that I’m getting, I will never be able to buy it myself. I depend entirely on charity. Please contribute to my LV Fund, yes, thank you. I’ve always been fascinated with LV. Occasionally, I’d find nice bags from other labels but LV has always been numero uno. It all started with a monogram Horizontal Lock It – which was a bestseller due to its size and practicality. I got it as a birthday present (I think). Well, I can’t remember because I got all my bags because of something. It must be either for my birthday or for my results. Before that, my mom has always been a fan of LV too and for a long time all I did was drool at her gorgeous bags. And then after owning one, the rest is as they say history. I know the biggest problem that LV has to face is the counterfeited monogram bags. I’ve had people telling me that I saw a bag exactly like yours at Petaling St./Bandung. I don’t know about other LV lovers but I personally couldn’t be bothered with the amount of imitation LVs being toted around - although I would love to see it gone. Fyi, it will never be ‘exactly’ like the real deal. And I’m not going to be all poyo and talk about how the ‘feel’ is different but most importantly it is not physically the same. Maybe the ones I saw were not the Grade A type but almost all the counterfeited bags differ from the original. For example, the handle would be too long or too short or too funny-looking, the size would be weird and better still the design is not even available in the store. Betul-betul ‘limited edition’ ni. I’m not going to say much because it’s all a matter of choice. But anyway, my obsession is pretty much under control. I don’t go crazy over a ridiculously priced keychain, coin purse or sandals. I love the ones that are practical, oversized and value for money. Actually, the watercolour Speedy sparked off this entry. Sadly, it is out of stock but they’re bringing in the same watercolour design but in dark brown. It’s quite pricy as compared to the normal Speedy. But I’m going to persuade my mom to ‘share’ it with me, so I’m going to offer to pay half…using the money that I received last night from Messrs. Shook Lin & Bok. Haha. :)

ps: Save your judgments for some other time.
