I’m still in the office. But please, belum tentu I’m going to touch any of my work. I can’t help it okay, the office is almost empty. My zone in particular has only 4 people left, including me. Definitely no motivation at all to scrutinize any legislation. I’m just counting the hours to go home. Dam dam dum.
I met up with my friends last weekend. On Saturday it was Ole-ole Bali, much to my delight. Fyi, I love that place because the portion makes me super full. On Sunday, it was supposed to be Pasta Zanmai. I was already fantasizing what I was going to order and all when the girls told me that all the places in Empire are fully booked and we ended up in Chilli’s. :( Of course Chilli’s is not a bad option, love the food there too but I was looking forward to something different. Here are some pictures from the two buka puasa sessions. If you have been longing to see how I look like now, your Raya wish has been granted.

This is the only decent picture of us I swear. Look at my plate, see? see?
As with these girls, last year I did an entry on how much we’ve changed with each passing Ramadhan and this year, yet again so many good changes have happened to us. Meq and Kak Tinie are now mommies to two children plus Kak Anis and I are both pregnant (with only a week apart!). Remember I told you in my first entry on pregnancy that another very good friend of mine is also pregnant? She’s the one! I found out I was pregnant first, and then she found out. And when I found out that she was pregnant too, I was over the moon. I was genuinely, sincerely very happy for her. You know, it’s not every day that we can say that we’re happy for others and really MEAN it. And even if we are sincerely happy for that person, it’s never the same as feeling as though that person’s happiness is your happiness. I hope you get what I mean. As for me, I don’t feel like that very often although I have been generally happy for others many times. It was just one of those special warm feeling. As to why I feel differently this time, I guess it has to do with a ‘long story cut short’.
It’s great to see how much we’ve grown together. It feels like only yesterday we were talking about boys and it feels like only yesterday when one of us had a fight with her then boyfriend and decided to walk to SS15 from home as a sign of protest and it feels like only yesterday when we had to go to KLIA to ‘settle’ some issues (at that time KLIA seemed so distant and an out of reach place, so it felt very rebellious). When you think of all the things you did when you were in school and what your conversations used to revolve around, you would feel like laughing and smiling now. Because look how far we’ve come. Now we talk about breastfeeding, how to lose all the pregnancy weight and stretch marks, maid dramas, in-laws, how to best handle a toddler who just found out he or she has a sibling, and basically, maternal topics. It’s a paradigm shift. To some, it may appear less interesting than talking about fashion, movies or even current issues but to us, to me now especially, it is an awesome new beginning of a different phase in our lives. But of course we always manage to squeeze in some shopping time too, in between.
Next year, insya Allah, kalau umur panjang, we’ll meet again in Ramadhan and if I’m still writing, insya Allah there will be other significant changes as well. And I will note it down. With that, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to wish you a very blessed Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir Batin. Enjoy your raya feast and have a safe journey back to your kampung!
