Again, woke up on the last day of our trip with so much enthusiasm. Because of the buffet breakfast. This time, no more of that garlic rice thingy, they served briyani for breakfast! *faints* My mom wanted to visit Pasar Ikan for some last-minute shopping because we forgot to buy souvenirs for those back at home! So I bought some materials for my mother in law, purses for the bibiks and another sarong for myself.
It was time to pack! We didn’t do much, we just lounged around in the room while the rest of the tour group went shopping. We had buffet lunch at the hotel. And my, this hotel serves good food. The choice wasn’t that extensive but the little that they had memang delicious. My favourite was its honey mustard chicken. Nyammms. Immediately after lunch and check out, we made our way to the airport to meet up with the rest of the group. But before that, we stopped by at a shop selling ‘teng teng’ (which I don’t know what but I bought it anyway because it’s a must-buy).
And so that was the end of our short trip to Medan. We did not go sightseeing at all. Don’t blame it on me, the whole group wanted to continue shopping day after day that they didn’t bother to visit the palaces or museums. Hehe. In my opinion, and as you could probably guess by now, I would choose Bandung or Jakarta any time over Medan. It was just so-so and if you want to buy kain, it is not the place for you. Tak banyak choice and it was expensive too! If you go to Jakarta, even if you can never afford the stuff at their swanky shopping malls, at least you can go to places like Tanah Abang where you can get lots and lots of cheap kebaya and kain. And as for Bandung, there are so many factory outlets it will make you go crazy. Admittedly not all the outlets are worthy of your time but if you can find two or three yang best like Rumah Mode, then you’re all set! But I’m glad I managed to spend the long weekend with my family. I know, I see them every day but I can never get enough of them. Especially the little boy.
Ohh, I forgot to tell you that the weekend before the long weekend I bought two books! Yes, I have just finished Nora Roberts’ first book in the bride series and honestly, I wouldn’t buy the second part of the book. Personally, it was such a bore to read and the plot was nothing to shout about. It was a huge disappointment. Totally not recommended. Now, let’s move on to the next book. I’ll review it later if it’s good.
