bravo

Hie! (Nia's style. Nia has this really cute way of saying hie with her froggy smile. So cute!) I am back from my conference. I am at home, knackered. It was definitely very tiring. Imagine this. We had to cater not only for our officers but officers from a few other departments as well. Every year we would combine our conference and that's why you see people like Azmi at our conference even though he's from JIM. The bigger the number, the better? Well, it was definitely more colourful and meriah but also a whole lot of headache too. Especially when only a handful of people knew how to play their parts. Let's not talk about the drama, dissatisfaction and all that. Some people left the Conference not on good terms. Which is sad, really. But it was really inevitable. I knew somewhere along the line somebody would get hurt and somebody would explode and somebody would be ridiculous and somebody would pull a face. I was right.
So that's the main reason you don't get to see that many pictures of me during the entire event because I was busy running the show. We had to throw our original, designated 'portfolio' out the window and practically had to think about everything from the hotel to the food to the gifts to the transportation to whether people had enough gloves to wear for the community service to whether so and so's room had ironing boards or not. So when some people came to me and said that 'oh, that's not my job so I'm not concerned with that', of course I nearly threw a fit. What's even more tragic is that the person who said it is a 'superior'. I don't think that's the right attitude and definitely, that person didn't set a good example to the young ones.
I don't like to sound like I'm complaining or ranting about something so 'trivial'. I mean, people would say, come on, everyone's doing it too so why are you making a big fuss out of it. I'm not. But I understand now why people like Neesa get so upset sometimes when people don't recognize her team's effort, because I'm sure she went through hell as well for her conference. As for me, I am happy that certain things went well, and I did my MAIN job well, nobody was left without a room. Otherwise, imagine this. About 5 or 6 people took care of the entire Conference for 150 pax. If we all don't suffer from mental breakdown this weekend then we must all be superwomen.
I'm giving myself a pat on the back. And also a new handbag. Maybe.
Two more weekends! Ohgod, I'm compartmentalizing my memory so that I can fit in everything, just like a good Tupperware. I must not miss any detail. Remind me what I need to buy please. Ok I just took my dress so that's a check. Which reminds me I gotta go try it on and send it back if it doesn't fit me well. I've had two fittings so this time it should be alright. The other sad part is that everyone's busy. My family's busy with the new house and my best friends are busy getting pregnant (kiddingggg), no, some are busy holiday-ing at some place cold, some are busy with work work work, some kept asking me what colour should she wear when I've told everyone like a zillion times already (but anyway, I don't mind if people don't wear according to the theme because I want everyone to be able to come in whatever colour they think suits them best). It can get pretty lonely sometimes especially when your other half is a few hundred kilometres away and you find yourself searching or worrying for things alone. This is the part where a sister would come in handy. Oh well, I've always been pretty sure of what I want anyway so it should be a breeze. Wish me luck!
