Help me. How do I describe my friends? Real gems? Precious? Priceless? Extraordinary? I don’t know. I’m at a loss for a better word. So if you think you can describe them, do let me know. Because I have got no clue. And the reason I’m so speechless is because of yesterday. Yes, I still can’t get over what they did to and for me. Yesterday was beyond wonderful, beyond friendship, beyond love. Entah apa nak describe.
The girls wanted to take me out and so I agreed. I knew it was going to be an outing to celebrate my last 20 days as a bachelorette but I didn’t know the extent of the celebration. Or the sort of trouble they had to go through just to make it happen. So I happily went to Pavilion with the girls. At first, I really thought we were going to Red Box as we were heading in that direction...when suddenly they made a detour and went straight into Kenko Fish Spa! Fish spa? Me? I’ve never tried it before so that was my very first time. Jaja did warn me in the car that I have to be a little adventurous and I thought that maybe we would all go rock climbing. I have never even considered a fish spa! It did not cross my mind at all. I was told that they signed us all up for a package of reflexology, back massage followed by the fish thingy. I was game for the first two! Hehe. It was so expensive. I still feel bad until today. We could’ve just done the fish thingy and hunt for some food and I would’ve been pretty happy already. But no, they just had to outdo everyone by throwing in the reflex and massage as well. I was and still am extremely touched. It was my first time doing reflex too, so I thought I was going to be all ticklish and annoying but I enjoyed it! The back massage goes without saying lah kan, just what I needed to knead all my shoulder pains away. Then came the highlight of it all, the fish spa itself. Jaja and Farah successfully dipped their feet into the water whereas yours truly and Faizah were sore losers. I mean, I did try for like, one minute and then I chickened out. It was scary lah! I tried to force Faizah by shoving her leg into the water and assuring her that it’s ok, it’s nothing (yes, suruh orang sendiri takut). Lesson of the day? No fish spa for me and Faizah. Ever again. :) Hehe. But it was so nice to get to experience it. If not for them, I would never have tried it.
Once we were done with it, I thought we were going to have dinner. But no, the girls said, there’s another surprise! Guess what they did? They set me up for a makeover session at Stage! How very original is that? I would never have thought of that. I guess they know me so well to know that I love make up and I love being made up. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The funny thing was, during the back massage session, I mentioned to the girls that they should’ve warned me we were gonna have massages and what-not, I would’ve come prepared with my make up kit for touch up. Rupa-rupanya I didn’t need my make up kit because they had an idea a million times better than that. It couldn’t have been more perfectly planned than that. I love some of the items they put on my face so I’m definitely going to head to Pavilion again soon to buy some of the things.
When the make up session ended, I thought ok, that’s it. Dinner? Yeap, I was right on that part but I was wrong on the location. We had to leave Pavilion for dinner. I was like “Where are we going?? Where are you girls taking me??” I mean, kenapa susah payah plan somewhere else when we could’ve just had dinner anywhere in the mall. But no. Again, they just had to surprise me again and again by bringing me to one of my favourite restaurants – Delicious. Yes, we’ve always dined at Delicious. But this time, they took me to the one at Dua Annexe. I’ve never been to that branch before so I was very excited. I knew that the food was gonna be good too. As I entered the restaurant, situated at one secluded corner of the restaurant, I saw a table with six chairs, and lots of pink balloons with grey ribbons around it. Why oh why do I have such amazing friends? I’ve never had a surprise do before. I mean, I’ve had surprise presents and all that but never a party or in this case, a day full of ‘surprise’ activities. It was a first for me. So it was indeed very, very special. Din and Bats waited for me there so they were also part of the surprise. Hehe. Din got me a super duper cute pink veil that I LOVEEEEE so much – even though I look very 80’s wearing it. Everyone was totally looking! Tapi tak kisah. We ate and ate and then came the next surprise...a super delicious chocolate cake. It wasn’t from Delicious. Gotta ask Neesa where she ordered it from. It was so good, really! Delicious staff took a picture of us and developed it immediately and gave it to us in a nice blue paper frame.
After the plates were cleared, came the finale, the icing on the cake, the biggest, sweetest surprise of it all...a scrap book. Made from scratch and I’m sure, made with lots of love. I was indeed on the brim of tears. I’m a big fan of notebooks and scrap books. I’ve never received a personalized one and this scrap book is my first. Lots of firsts for me. Memang, I didn’t expect any of it. Never in a million years. Everything was totally out of this world for me. Too much, just too much love.
I know I sound totally...off. But it’s true. I’ve never felt more special. Terharu, touched semua tu is an understatement. Din, the runner. He went from one place to another to put the deco together. He took care of the accessories – the sash, the pink veil. And carried tons of balloons into the restaurant to do his thang. I know it took a whole big chunk of his public holiday and it must have taken lots of courage and confidence to pull it all off. He went the extra mile and it was all for me! Siapa tak terharu please? Jaja and Farah, the two girls who picked me up from home. I definitely felt like a princess. Hehe. They’re the cutest. They claimed that there were a few times they nearly gave the surprise away but I didn’t notice it. Thanks for spending the day with me. I know both of you are super busy. I appreciate the ride and the effort of trying to keep everything under wraps. (sampai Farah kena pukul!) Faizah, the early bird. She was the first to arrive and kept calling the girls. She led the way for us, our guide. Ha, she was good at keeping mum...so I didn’t suspect a thing. Even after we were done at Kenko Spa, and she zoomed off to our next location, I still did not suspect anything. Bats, the girl who made sure I went back home safe and sound. She was also very busy that day, hence she couldn’t join us earlier...but still, she made time for me, for us. Gosh I love them all to bits!
And to the person responsible for everything – Hanisa. They told me what you did. They told me how you planned everything for me. Every single detail. And yes, as I’m typing this, finally the tears have dropped. All because of you and everything that you did and how because of you too, everyone came together. And the book...that special lil book that you made for me. That must’ve taken a lot of your time - to cut the pieces of paper, print out the words, paste it on the paper, develop the pictures – so much work on top of your already heavy workload. I feel inadequate as a friend and that I don’t deserve this much love from everyone. And yet at the same time I feel truly indebted to you, Neesa, and to everyone who executed her plans. What’s definitely more touching is the fact that you knew you wouldn’t be around to enjoy what you’ve planned for us and yet, you made sure that WE all had fun. You’re definitely a girl with a big, big heart. Of course it would’ve been perfect if you were there. But your name tak pernah lekang from our mouths throughout the day “Neesa would’ve loved this” “Take lots of pics for Neesa” “Neesa will be disappointed to see the quality of our pictures” “You don’t know what Neesa went through to get things done” “She slept late to finish up the book” “Let’s tag Neesa in this picture” “Neesa mesti marah I tak masukkan kaki dalam air”...and so so so many more. Don’t worry Neesa, everything was perfect. But then again, that’s no surprise, considering that everything came from somebody so EFF, backed by a bunch of other EFF people. So of course it was perfect perfect perfect.
Thank God for wonderful friends. Thank God I found each and every one of you. You guys have been there for me - from failed relationships to achievements to my down falls and to in a way, match-making me with Zaki. Without your support, assistance (ehem, yes Faizah I remember the strategy we used to find out if he had a girlfriend or not) and encouragement, I don’t know what or who I’d be right now. Yes I am about to enter a new phase in my life but I’m bringing every single one of you with me (whether you like it or not). Because I need all of you. I still need my support system. I still need someone to stay silent on the other line while I cry my heart out on the phone. I still need a random favour or two. I still need a bunch of people to annoy. I still need friends that are forever. And you guys are forever. Friendship Like Ours Will Eternally Remain. The bride-to-be loves everyone too!
(By the way, that old picture of me is so unflattering Neesa ;p)
